The Crunch Theory

So we built a snack around four simple ideas — the theory behind every pouch.

  1. 01

    Taste earns the first bite

If it doesn’t taste great, nothing else matters. We lead with crunch and flavour — then back it up with nutrition.

94% of Indian snackers want nutrition without compromising on flavour (IBEF, 2025).

  2. 02

    Trust earns the purchase

Six-ish ingredients, real serving sizes and nutrition you can read in five seconds. No miracle claims. Ever.

  3. 03

    Convenience builds the habit

Trial packs for your bag, pouches for your desk, multipacks for the pantry — delivered in 10 minutes.

  4. 04

    Satisfaction brings you back

A snack you look forward to, not one you settle for. That’s the whole theory.

Why makhana?

Makhana — also called fox nut or lotus seed — is the popped seed of the Euryale fox lotus, grown in the ponds of Bihar. Roasted, it turns light and crisp: the perfect base for a snack that tastes indulgent without the deep-fryer.

Good questions

All questions

What is makhana?

Makhana is the popped seed of the Euryale fox lotus, also called fox nut or lotus seed. It is harvested mainly in Bihar, India, then sun-dried and popped. Crunch Theory slow-roasts it in a little oil so it turns light, crisp and ready to season.

Is Crunch Theory makhana fried?

No. Every Crunch Theory pack is roasted, never deep-fried. We use a small amount of rice bran oil so the seasoning sticks, which is why our fat content is a fraction of typical fried namkeen.

Is roasted makhana healthier than chips?

Roasted makhana is generally a lighter choice than fried potato chips: it is roasted instead of fried, naturally gluten-free and contains fibre. We do not claim it is a weight-loss food — it is a better everyday snack that still tastes like a treat. Compare the nutrition table on each flavour page with your usual snack.

Is Crunch Theory gluten-free?

Yes. Makhana is naturally gluten-free and none of our seasonings contain wheat. Our packs are made in a facility that also handles nuts, sesame and milk, so please check the allergen line on each flavour if you have severe allergies.
